NOTICE OF REFERENDUM ELECTION
TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a referendum election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at which time there shall be submitted the question published below to the duly qualified electors of the Town of Greenville, Madison County, Florida.
The referendum shall be on the question of whether the Town Charter shall be amended as more specifically described and provided in Ordinance No.: 2024-280, adopted by the Town Council of the Town of Greenville, Florida on September 23, 2024. A copy of said ordinance may be viewed at the Town Hall of the Town of Greenville, Florida, located at 154 SW Old Mission Avenue, Greenville, Florida 32331, or online at www.mygreenvillefl.com.
The referendum question to be placed on the ballot shall read as follows:
AMENDMENT TO BUDGET PROCEDURES, PUBLIC HEARINGS, AND TRANSPARENCY REQUIREMENTS.
Shall the Town of Greenville Charter be amended to mandate public budget hearings with enhanced public participation and transparency, establish advertising requirements for budget hearings, require the budget to be adopted by ordinance or resolution, mandate the budget’s online availability for 2 years, and require the budget to outline major classifications of receipts and expenditures?

In accordance with the Constitution and Laws of the State of Florida, all qualified electors of the Town of Greenville, Florida, shall be entitled to vote in the referendum to which this notice pertains. The places and hours for voting will be the usual places and hours of voting within the Town of Greenville, Florida, during the general election scheduled for Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Vote-By-Mail and Early Voting shall be permitted as provided by law.
